As we close out Christmas 2020 and we start to think about what feels like a new beginning in 2021, we also look back on what has been probably the craziest year any of us have experienced. It has not been easy, but I am going to remember this past year in part for the amazing support I have found for my new business adventure. After over 20 years in restaurants, finding myself in a newly envisioned world without a restaurant job, and a completely changed restaurant industry, was frightening. Add to that a family at home and needing me more than ever, I went out on a limb to rethink the way I work. I am so thankful for your continued support of my warming and nutritious soups, and hope they have been comforting to you. I am looking forward to developing more products to share in the New Year, and am excited to have you along for the ride!
This week I will be making my first appearance at the Irvington Farmers Market on Sunday 12/27 from 9:30 am - 1 pm. I will be bringing the following goods with me, and look forward to seeing some familiar faces, and meeting some new ones!
HASTINGS FRIENDS -- If you see something you just have to have, I can arrange for a local pick up location on Sunday or Monday!!
SOUPS THIS WEEK will include:
Coconut Red Lentil
A favorite in my house for sure, there is so much good flavor and comfort in this simple but delicious vegan curried soup. Dress it up with some greens and cilantro, or serve over rice or quinoa for a bigger meal!
Red Lentils, Yellow Lentils, Scallions, Ginger, Cilantro, Coconut Milk,
Madras Curry Powder, Tomato Paste, Sea Salt
Vegan, Dairy Free, Gluten Free
Pinto Bean Posole
Another hearty and zippy vegan soup, full of Pinto beans, hominy, tomatillos, cilantro and lime. It's a South American comfort soup at its best! Add some sliced avocado, radishes or scallions to garnish!
Onions, Garlic, Tomatillos, Pinto Beans, Cumin, Coriander, Hominy, Serrano Chiles, Homemade Vegetable Stock, Cilantro, Lime Juice, Sea Salt
Vegan, Dairy Free, Gluten Free
Cod + Clam Chowder
It has been a while since I have had this one available, and it seems like a perfect week for something a little decadent! Chock full of cod and clams, my chowder is never thickened with flour or cornstarch. Growing up on Cape Cod, you just learn to make good "chowdah". (Or at least be picky about it!)
Cod, Clams, Onions, Garlic, Celery, Potatoes, Butter, Cream, Milk, Parsley, Sea Salt
Gluten Free
Basque Chicken
Many people have asked to have this one again, and I'm so thrilled! This chicken soup is inspired by the Basque cooking of Spain. Shredded chicken in a broth full of peppers, olives, tomato and spices, this soup is sure to transport you to sunnier climes.
Shredded Chicken Dark Meat, Onions, Garlic, Red Pepper, Yellow Pepper, Orange Pepper, Tomatoes, Green Olives, Smoked Paprika, Oregano, Homemade Chicken Stock, Sea Salt
Dairy Free, Gluten Free
All soups are $12, 32 oz, easily freezable, and keep well in the fridge for about 10 days.
Also this week I will have my new Nut and Seed Soup Crackers! Made of almond flour, seeds and spices, these dairy and gluten free crackers go so well with all of my soups. It has been fun experimenting with them, and I hope you like them!
Looking for a special cocktail to go with your holiday celebrations? Allow me to tempt you with a delicious garnish that will inspire your inner mixologist! Our TIPSY CHERRIES can elevate any number of cocktails, from the standard Old Fashioned or Manhattan, to any sparkling wine cocktails that need a little zing!
(Just a note, they are fantastic, also, on ice cream... )
Looking for some pizzazz for your own cooking?
I have several items of interest!
My Aleppo Citrus Sea Salt is great to add to roasted meats or vegetables, and is delicious on just about anything, really.... eggs and avocado toast, anyone? Another spice blend I am bringing is my Savory Himalayan Sea Salt Spice Rub, meant
for roasted meats or protein alternatives. A lot of great flavor to add a little kick to that next roasted chicken...! NEW this week is my Mediterranean Herb Sea Salt. Inspired by the Za'atar herb and spice mix that is near and dear to my heart, this combines Oregano, Basil, Thyme, Sesame Seeds, Sumac and Flaky Maldon Sea Salt for a lovely addition to olives, pizzas, soft cheeses, or roasted or grilled vegetables or meat!
Bundle up, and I look forward to seeing you at the market!!
